My 32/34 arab bay mare has the creme colored skunking in her mane and tail, and gets white hairs in her summer coat too. She also HAD two back black socks, but begain 'roaning " there too. She didn't have these colorations till she was over 3.
My 1/2 arab colt,(amost 2) got a white spot last year on his side(his mother had one on her neck).His mane also began "skunking", he now has about 30-50% white hair in his mane. His father was a chstnut arab, and mother was a dun TB/QH.

Yes, it's the rabicano gene. I have a bay roan Anglo Arab (out of a bay TB,
by a black ARab, neither roan), but that Stallion has sired several foals
with this gene, so he must carry it. OFten it is accompanied by belly
spots, and white patch at stifle, and many, like my mare, have a very
strange banded black and white tail. YOu also see white socks with this,
etc. I ran into a purebred Arab gelding at Camp Far West this last year,
that was marked exactly like my mare. This pattern seems to be primarly on
the barrel, rarely on the neck, and often there is almost a banding pattern
on the barrel too. Try an internet search for Arabian Coat Colors, I seem
to remember a great site with explanations and photos.
