[RC] Training Tips for Stifle - Val NicosonDoes anyone have any training tips and/or suggestions to ensure a stifle remains sound? My mare has recovered from a sprained stifle and has been back under saddle since early September. Should she stay on flat land for a year or at what point would it be OK to do gentle, easy hills with her? I'm a little phobic as I don't want to re-injure her. We have been riding easy due to the holidays but plan to pick up the conditioning routine soon provided weather permits. Located in the midwest. Would it be possible to do a couple easy LD rides with her this coming season or should I wait until 2004? I'm talking about taking it at an easy pace...walk or easy trot...and/or riding drag (have yet to do our first LD). I know this sounds contradictory but I am admittedly eager yet I continually worry about doing too much too soon. Any advice? Has anyone had a horse be able to do LDs (25's or perhaps 50's) following a stifle sprain and how long did it take to be able to do an LD afterwards? Thanks, Val __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
