Re: [RC] Dressage saddles for endurance - Heidi SmithI've seen a couple of top riders who rode in English saddles of one type or another, but they were usually crossover riders who had been very successful in dressage or jumping before beginning endurance. (Nina Warren or Melissa Crain for example) but not a lot of riders on them in general. I suppose things vary by where you live. For years, MOST folks out here rode in English saddles of various types, although granted, that is also a historical perspective, given that it was quite awhile before saddle makers responded to the sport and started making saddle specifically designed for endurance. And a fair number of folks still do--again, maybe that is due to the fact that they went to rides and saw folks riding in them--who knows. Heidi (who has ridden every step of my AERC miles in an English saddle, and who is a "crossover" from ranching, having grown up in a western saddle, and got the English saddle after doing my first CTR in a western one and deciding "never again!" I did ride in a few English classes at shows as a teenager--but only because I already had the saddle for CTR and endurance....) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
