This is what we use on every horse on the place. Jeffers vet has the best
price on them for when yours rusts beyond recognition (it will). Teddy
carries the biothane noseband replacements for when the leather one rots (it
will).

I like this type of hack because it is gentle, but gets the point across
when you need it. We have one mare that hates to give up control of her
head. If you pull on the reins as you mount, she throws herself to the
ground. She likes the jumping hack fine.

I start all babies in one. It allows them to learn left right and whoa
without dealing with something in their mouth.

Every new horse that comes to us starts in one. If I need more whoa, we can
always go with something stronger. I've used it on everybody from the old
pleasure horse to the retired standardbred racehorse to my orphan foal. Only
one horse has needed the traditional western hack, and then only when the
tiny little riding student is on her.

Ol Bubba has always needed the Trammel Cowboy hack, though. He's the
exception to the rule. Of course, even the Trammel doesn't stop him all of
the time. At twenty-one, he is still a runaway when he feels like it.

Just go ride. Your horse will love this hack. And yes, it is adjusted
correctly if the reins just brush the ground when he grazes. Another reason
I like this hack. The longer one is always getting stepped on!
