Re: [RC] [Guest] Dressage Saddles for Endurance Riding - Heidi Smith

I heard that posting in a dressage saddle is hard to do sence it's not a
forward seat like the all purpose one

Huh....guess it's what a person is comfortable in. I have ridden an all
purpose saddle & felt too far forward, was great for steep climbs
tho. Don't have any problem posting in a dressage saddle.

People are all built differently, for sure. I, too, find it easier to post
in in a less "forward" seat, but then, too, I learned to post in an
old-timey centerfire western saddle when I was a kid. Have ridden many
miles in an all-purpose Stubben, but had to fight "jackknifing" at the hips
at a trot with my feet going forward as well, but agree it is nice going
uphill, where the rider's axis in relationship to the horse becomes
"forward."

My best advice to the original poster would be to try different types of
saddles to see what best fits her balance and riding style.

Heidi
