RE: : [RC] Motions before the Board of Directors at the Convention
I would like to point out that for the last few BOD meetings, Mike Maul has
posted proposed motions on the AERC webpage. This is a major improvement
over the way it has been done in the past (no notification). You can always
find something to gripe about - how about acknowledging the attempts that
are made to 'do it right' and supporting those attempts - and maybe even
making positive suggestions. AERC is in the best shape financially that it's
ever been in - thanks to a vigilant BOD, and an incredible effort by our
treasurer (Vicki Rutter) and the office staff. The organization is healthy.
Can you really expect a perfectly oiled machine-like organization from guys
who wear pantyhose, and women that dress their horses in purple biothane,
and crazies that think riding a hundred miles in one day is fun, and
veterinarians that can still smile after 24 hours of watching horses trot
out, and lawyers who ride funny little ponies all the way across the USA??
:)

I believe you all are losing sight of the true facts. The
important thing is the members have no input top the
Directors on these things. Every thing is done on a whim of
a particular Director and we have no period to comment to
our regional Directors or to the Directors-at-Large. This is
what I would call ramming things through.
Is this what the membership wants? If so, then all comments
on Board actions should be suppressed. If not, then Board
agendas should be required to be submitted to the membership
thirty days in advance of any BoD meeting as a period for
comment. Is that so difficult other than requiring some
forethought?

Right there on the AERC web page it states, "Official
sanctioning body for the
United States AND Canada." Hence the AERC doesn't not stop
at the US northern
border. So it should actually is the AERC championship not
the United States
championship.
