I guess you have to have proof before you can convict. I was hanging
out around camp at the NC all day and didn't hear any rumors, but maybe
I wasn't
in with those "in the know". I think with the big bucks that are at
stake in the SELLING of the winners, there's now more incentive to
cheat. Let's say you've got a great gray with a wonderful record, but
he's going arthritic. You run another in the race, he finishes well,
then you sell them the lame one. Wrong, but I could see it happening
with enough money at stake. The passport we had to get for
international would be just as effective as a chip, but how many of
you mark every swirl your horse has, along with pink skin, etc. on
their coggins. Certainly not those who want to run a ringer.
P.S. Personally, when I hear "Ringers" and "Endurance" in the same
sentence I picture a horse on fluids. :-P
