Well, since there isn't enough predation on the herds
anyways, some viral pressure probably isn't a totally
bad thing. Some mustangs will probably die from it.
Certainly not all of them and probably not a large
percentage of them either. As a whole the herds left
should be healthier for the unprotected pressure. This
year you'll probably have more die from the droughts
than from WNV.
Certainly trying to round them all up and vaccinate
them is unrealistic. Too expensive, too much strain
on the horses, vaccines needed too often. Who would
foot the costs? Doing so would most likely injure more
mustangs than the vaccines would protect...
