RE: [RC] [RC] barefoot endurance - drhopkins
Henry Heymering asked Strasser people to show him successful cases, but since
they weren't convenient enough (a 2 hour drive) for him to bother to take a
look he concluded that there were no successful cases.
I would rather pay my Strasser barefoot trimmer $35.00 for 45 minutes worth of
trimming which includes measuring angles and heel height, trimming bars,
scooping quarters and filing back the toe to get properly functioning hoof
mechanism than $20.00 for a 10 minute pasture trim that was just nipping off
the toe and filing off the nicks. The shoes and pasture trim didn't fix the
underrun heels or contracted foot. They just kept getting worse and worse.
The Strasser performance trim has really helped alot with these. We have been
photo documenting the progress. I use Old Macs on gravel and road riding. The
rest of the time he gets to go barefoot. Protection when needed and natural
healthy feet the rest of the time. I'm just a CTR person, but my horses'
health and happiness is first and foremost. That's why I also come to this
list to learn the best way to keep my horse healthy and I'm doing CTR and
hopefully LD because this seems to be the best activity for my "loves to go and
be around people horse".
