I am enjoying seeing some spirited debate about
endurance/AERC issues. Of course, the barefoot thing can get sticky
sometimes but the non member thing has been fairly educational...I have some
info to share with folks around here who may need to buy back miles in the
future and some viewpoints about the non member fees...quite honestly, I am
not for or against it either way and can see everyone's points. I hate
when that happens! I really respect Joe Long's viewpoint as a long time
endurance rider and former ride manager and yet, I can see the points of some of
the other posters, too. I am going to be interested in hearing my sister's
response to non member fees as she didn't join this year but paid the non member
fee willingly though it was a bite for her. So here's throwing another
iron in the fire....she rode some LDs the last few years. Not many.
Easy to research and buy back really. But AERC has kept track of her miles
anyway...though they have screwed up her horse's miles (seems there is more than
one "Dallas" in our sport). Basically, what she DOESN'T get are
points and recognition, right? Well, and the EN, too.
