    Just
riding in a 25 miler is soon going to cost nearly $100.00! Who will be
able to afford to ride in 50s or 100s soon?
I think I remember this going around last year, but last year the cost
was a little more reasonable! Now there is an added fee for camping as
well as the cost for Non-AERC members! (I am asking for a membership for
    Christmas!)
Americans rebelled for far less! Will we have to boycott or start a
petition to someone? Or do I have to give up the idea of being an
endurance rider altogether? Howard, do YOU have any ideas? I know YOU are
shelling out the bucks for this! Anyone else?

The difference monetarily between riding the 25 and the 50 has always been very slight.  The person (Helen Logan) who introduced me to endurance riding never rode a 25, she couldn't see the economics of it (she was very practical) if you're gonna pay the money, then then you might as well get the most (miles) for your money (gotta love that woman).  The non-member fee has been around since at least 1992 (when I started riding maybe before that -- go Joe), each individual ride can charge extra for camping fees as they see necessary (like when the forest service charges a per rig fee).

We are all shelling out "the bucks" for this and I still see it as the deal of the century.  Where else can you ride your horse for  25/50/100/250 miles and have the best vets check your horse out at regular intervals?
