Re: [RC] Venting - Typef
Quite frankly, I am amazed that the fees are as low as they are. Having been
around this sport in the 70s and then again now, the first thing I said was
"boy, the ride fees sure haven't changed much!" What I then found out was
that the completion award had. In the 70s, the entry fees were anywhere from
$40 for a 50-miler to $100 for a 100-miler (not taking the time to look it
up exactly, but I do have my father's great box of goodies to look in, if
anyone wants exact figures). The difference was, every ride got a belt
buckle instead of a certificate, bucket, coffee mug, or whatever. I find it
commendable that the ride managers, after 30 years, can still put these
rides on at approx. the same price. These rides are incredibly expensive to
put on and I'm sure, most of the time RMs barely break even. If they can
make a profit from all the hard work that goes into putting a ride on, more
power to them! I say, belly up to the bar and pay your fees and enjoy what
you're getting for your money ... a bargain!
