[RC] rabies and WNV - LOUISE D BURTON
This is a quote from the Tulsa World in Oklahoma 8-21-02
"On the rabies front, the division reports, as of July 29 two bats tested
positive for rabies in Tulsa County, but those were the only two cases in
the entire state this year. By far, the biggest culprits are ground-walking
animals: 53 skunks, six cats, five dogs, four horses and three cows.
Confirmed rabies cases for the years 1990 through 1999, were: skunks 70.7
percent of cases, cattle 11 percent, cats 5.4 percent, bats 4.3 percent,
horses 3.9 percent, dogs 3.9 percent and other 0.8 percent."
I find this interesting the percentage of horses is the same as dogs! Do
you vaccinate your horse for rabies?
