brains so very different in how they learn? I guess my feeling is that
none of the 3 wonderful, popular and skilled clinicians gave much thought
to whether what they were doing was actually in the best interests of the
colts or their future riders. Phooie on that.

Me too! Anyone on this list have a horse that went through a "miracle"
session? Report, please!

Well, I don't have the 'miracle horse' you mention, but I have taken some
clinics from a 'natural horseman clinician' and can comment on the 'sleep to
think it over' theory.
The clinics are usually two full days, and I did do some back to back
sessions ~ four days in a row with one horse. It went like this. We worked on
'things' in the morning, put our horses in their stall while we went to
lunch. Worked in the afternoon, then put them away for the night, then repeat
the next day. It is remarkable how much seems to soak in during the rest
periods, even the one hour for lunch. I have to say though that four days is
a bit much for me as well as my horse. We both do a bit of a melt down on day
four. But, that may just be us. Some even do six days without apparent melt
down.
The results of this intensive work is very good indeed. I probably wouldn't
be riding this particular horse if I hadn't learned the tools I needed to
connect with him. I also regret selling some very fine horses in the past,
just because of a training problem I couldn't get past. Oh well, most went to
good owners. <g>
