[RC] Embryo Transfer - Rides 2 Far

Just read an article in The Horse magazine. Seems some QH breeders sued
AQHA to be allowed to register multiple Embryo Transfer foals per year.
The court said the one foal limit violated Texas free trade laws and AQHA
settled out of court, agreeing to register all multiple foals since 1980
when they began accepting ET, and pay damages to the breeders. They
claimed this could effect 3000 ET horses which had been denied
registration. I've got to wonder...who the heck was paying the $$ for ET
for horses they knew they couldn't register them? 3000?

They said it could have an effect on other registries. They mentioned
one result we hadn't considered when we discussed it. They said the value
of the really good brood mares could go up, but that most breeders said
two per year was pretty much all they had in mind.
