Re: [RC] [RC] horseshoe technology: Easywalker - Rob
I'm not familiar with the sizing system. Yes to be properly applied the
kit is needed. Everything I shoe for endurance I use steel shoes on. On
some horses I'll use the HoofPrints ImPak pad to protect the sole from
sharp edged rocks on hard packed trail. If a steel shoe is properly
shaped and applied with no nails behind the widest point of the hoof
that mechanism will function as if there were no shoe there. This is
evident if you remove a shoe from a hoof and look at the hoof surface of
the shoe, You can usually see a shiny spot and shallow groove in the
shoe where the heels were resting upon it. As far as wear I like the way
the Natural Balance steel shoe wears. I have a pair that has 145 miles
of endurance rides on them and they're still in good enough shape to
nail back on the horse. There was very little wear on the ground
surface, I don't know whether it's due to the alloy they are composed of
or of the shape of the shoe minimizes wear.
