I know of some that have been doing 50's for quite a few years now and
the above statement applies to them as well, if not more so. So it's not
always the first time yahoos, I will say it is always someone more
concerned with their image and the desire to be able to tell all their
friends "I won the race." as opposed to the well being of their equine
companion.
