[RC] Heat-releated respiratory issues - Ridecamp Guest

I saw an ad for a horse that is being given away because it has breathing problems in the summer, so they want it to go to a home further north (currently in Fla). They claim he is otherwise fit and sound. What respiratory problems would be triggered by heat? Allergies I can see, but have not heard of heat-induced resp. problems (of course most of my equine experience was gained in New England). I'm considering this horse as a husband/guest horse (not, obviously, for endurance).
