been given the horses who died.
OK, that's for me...Not much was done. The yearling was left for dead...I picked it up and did not do anything other than IV fluids, good food. It was showing no signs at this point of Pigeon's disease but owner referred the symptoms to us. She was taken into the clinic when she took a very bad turn for the worst after a week at our place...we had an ultrasound done only to find a soccer ball size internal abscess attached to the intestines. It was to weak at this point to continue anything.
The 5 year old and the neighbors, 8 yr horse, both were told to let it run it's natural course. Nothing was done other than lances, and rest. No drugs given in anyway. Both horses lost all symptoms like the filly, then coliced beyond recovery. The 5 yr. old under went colic surgery but it was too late with large amounts of abscesses found. She had to be put down. The neighbors horse just was dead in the morning, when the Vet opened him up, they found the same thing.
