Naw, not all of us. I've been breeding, raising and riding Arabs for 30
years, and I still appreciate good Standardbreds--in fact, good horses of
ANY breed. And I've seen horses of a great many breeds excel in this sport.
It's a matter of playing the odds. And to be honest, with the sad modern
trends in Arab breeding, one has to watch WHICH Arabs one gets for this
sport as well. The Standardbred, as I previously stated, is the second most
likely breed to give you the sort of metabolism you want for this sport, and
some of the gaited breeds (while generally not as fast as either the Arabs
or the Standardbreds) likewise have a tendency to have some decent metabolic
parameters.
