I agree with Bette except for the part about antibiotics. I would not do that unless the vet advised. Antibiotics tend to make the symptoms go away and in the case of pigeon fever I don't think that would be a good idea. It can go internal. Once the abscess is lanced we flush it out every day and keep it open to heal from the inside...Have never seen a scar from it yet....
