Re: [RC] Ice up... - Lisa Redmond
Part II to first reply-- I can understand feeling besieged by rules, and
this is something that requires discussion with those in the know,
rule-wise. I tend to take the approach of looking at things from the inside
of the animal out--why does something happen, is it smart to cause something
to happen in an "unnatural" way...that sort of thing. I think part of that
is my nature--I love puzzles, and nutrition and physiology to me are giant,
ever evolving puzzles that will never be completed...new questions keep
popping up every time we insert a "piece" of knowledge into the whole thing.
There was also what I call the Preparation H factor involved in writing my
reply....I try to imagine what the most bizarre thing is someone can come up
with and try to prevent it with education. A side effect of teaching
college students, I suppose! Most of my response was inspired by the desire
to point out why this is a practice that shouldn't catch on. You were
careful to use small pieces and a small amount of ice...I could see someone
lurking out there saying to themselves--hey, this is a quick fix. I wanted
to head that type of person off at the pass before they did something stupid
that ended up creating problems for the horse.
