I rode, and finished, the Malibu. I found the P&R people quite thorough
and strict and I, for one, appreciate that! Anyone who is annoyed by someone
who is looking out for the safety of their horse needs that damn T-shirt too
badly. Maybe we should award the T's on entry? :o)
Seriously, I am pretty new at all this, but I don't think reducing the
recovery rates will work because, as mentioned by others, different breeds
can be quite fit and fine at slightly higher rates than the Arabs. To me, it
would seem to make more sense to give more leeway to the vets for pulling a
horse they are worried about. As I said, I am new, so there may be a very
good reason for not doing this such as people/vet personality conflicts, etc.
I don't know the answer, but I do recognize the question and will read
eagerly to see what ideas you all have!
