Heidi, I totally agree with you. But the point I think that is being made is those people who ride ten kinds of hell out their horse, then load and drive home - often for a good few hours. I sometimes have a problem too in having to feed those left behind and I have to make a choice - do I go or do I leave early? You deal with your situation and as you also pointed out .... <<is to ride a ride that is less than the maximal effort for the horses, so that we know they can safely be loaded up and hauled within several hours of the event.>> and <<Meanwhile, we enjoy the sport to the level that we can without putting an undue burden on our horses. That's one nice thing about this sport--there's a level for everyone to participate, even if their circumstances are less than ideal for maximal competition.>>
Rules are only there for the handful that don't want to listen or who have no interest in looking after their horses. The majority don't need those rules, methinks.
