Pat,
Jeez!  Had to toss a "wee dram" back before I
could answer you...
I won't stand for anyone refering to me as
racist.  Please, please read the entire post again.  My husband is
Scottish, but I am German on my granfathers side and English on my
grandmothers.  My g-g-g-grandfather was Pres. John Tyler who was a Southern
Confederate, yes, but is written up in the history books as trying very hard to
prevent our very brutal Civil War.
When I say "we" I mean those not "looking "
Asian.  People who were in danger of "hate crimes" were placed in
"internment camps" to keep racists from hurting them.  I am southern born
and raised.  I see and hear enough hateful s...t to make anyone want to
puke.  I don't have those people around me.  It reekes of ignorance,
lack of intelligence, takes zero immagination.
I seriously hope our country does not find it
necessary to take steps to protect innocent Arabs, Iranians, Palestinians,
Egyptians, etc living in America against racists assaults.  These
terriorists who are still here in the US probably look at these folks of their
own religion as traitors, as they have made U.S. their new home.  So I also
worry about hate crimes from that element as well.
This attack on US soil could be termed  "hate
crime" .  These fanatics have declared war on US out of pure hatred
for modern life and freedom.  It does make me sick to see Americans lashing
out at innocents, esp. when these innocents may get it from both sides.  I
hope we, as intelligent people, look with "better eyes" than that.

    .
    >We had to put people of Asian/Oriental
decent into holding camps at onset of WWII for two reasons<

I am trying hard not to spout and fume, etc.
but when I read such stuff from seemingly good minded people, I get
very frightened. Did we learn nothing from the tragic mistakes of that
era? "We had to...."??? then why did we not put all of German .....etc.
goes the rebuttal...but I will just leave it there. It is sad when we can
make an argument for racist treatment of anyone. When we can offer any
excuse for so blatantly trampling on the rights of others because they
"look" like the enemy....How very sad this all is......

      >the Japs hit Pearl Harbor. <

Racisim is alive and well and it dwells here among us
folks!!!!!

      A very sad Pat Super
