The only akal-teke I have met in person was the exact opposite. She was a
mare that was at the rare breeds exhibit at the NC horse Expo. She was
extremely calm and very very sweet. Loved having people come up and pat and
scratch her. I also saw the woman ride her in the breed parade and she
seemed very calm and intelligent, listening very well to her rider even in
all the comotion. I also questioned the weight carrying ability as I am a
heavy weight rider. The woman who owns her (my guess about 160lbs ish) said
her 200lb husband rode her on extended trail rides with no problems. I am
very interested in the breed myself so was asking a lot of questions about
her being so lightly built and built like a greyhound. From the answers I
got I think they would do quite well in endurance. Jess
