At a recent equine expo in Belton I saw about a half dozen Akhal-tekes, all
owned by the same stables down near San Antonio somewhere.
They were all hyper, nervous and wiggy (they were pacing their stalls and
showing a lot of other odd behaviors). Their feet were chipped and
splitting.
Consider that these may have been show animals, not working animals. Do
that same comparison to a show Arab or Morgan to an endurance version of the
same animal, and you might see the same kind of behavior from the show
animal.
Akhal-Tekes are beautiful animals that definitely have the physical
wherewithall to do endurance.
