RE: Woolback vs. Skito

Hi All -

I live in Western New York ( just south of Buffalo). Our summers here are
horrible, humidity wise, it is my least favorite season.

I ride an SS, about 5 years now. I have never used Skito, but I do use
Toklat Woolback, and several different pads I've combo'ed together. My SS
woolback has ultracells which kind of give it a channel, but that pad is
also 3x thick, so the whole thing is a bit too thick (didn't realize how it
would be when I ordered it). The roper woolback (for Dani's buckaroo saddle)
has felt inserts, the thin ones. I have a couple felt/neo pads which I split
and skived out to form spine channels and they work very well (I use them
mostly in the cooler weather as they are warm), or else just use them w/ the
treed saddles. And then there's my bareback rig and modified Natural Ride...

IMO the best combo I've used so far is woolback w/ a vent pad. Mine is
Tucker, but there is also Dixie and Ulti-, more I'm sure. I've never had
horses sore over their spine, but the most I've ever ridden at any one time
was 32 miles, certainly not at endurance speed.
