Hi,
I'm not sure how things work in the States, but in Canada, as far as I
know, blood is not given just on the word of a blood donor card, medic alert
bracelet, etc. A crossmatch to determine blood type and antibody status is
done unless the situation is critical (ie: a patient is bleeding out) then O
Rh negative blood is given.
