To Montell from NE NM

I'm hoping to make it to the Montell Cliff Hanger ride (March 17th - 19th).
I'll be traveling from northeastern New Mexico & will probably go via
Amarillo, Lubbock, & San Angelo.

I'll probably be traveling alone & am looking for a good stop-over - maybe
somewhere between Lubbock & San Angelo... any suggestions?
