Re: RC: [Fwd: RC: Heartrates up to 220]
Down in the FL sandhills, we don't have steep hills but we do have long
and very sandy hills. I mean deep sugar sand. I can eaisly get HR's in
the 200 range galloping up these hills. Once the horse gets the legged
up for the sand this is a regular part of my training. I don't time the
periods since the timing is more related to the length of the hill than
anything else. But I would say a one to two minute gallop with the HR in
the 185 to 205 zone for about 30 to 60 seconds would be about average.
I have ridden these training rides with several people who comment they
can't get their horse's HR that high. I would suspect it may be more the
HRM not properly working at that speed than the heart rate not going up.
I bought a new transmitter a while back and found out that, hey he can
get above 165.
