My gelding is trained & generally competes in the HW
category. His HR is always higher than the horses
around us in the lighter divisions in the ride. When
I let a Feather Weight friend ride him, it was like he
was riderless! He was cruising along at faster speeds
than with me, and the HR was 15-20 beats lower.
(Makes me feel guilty!)
He finishes in the top 5 for our weight category, and
generally in the top 1/3 of the ride. I tend to hold
him back. I don't LIKE galloping full speed over
rocky mountainous trails.
