Re: LD and BC
I'll see if I can explain this without getting everyone completely
confused...I've got one of the best conditioned evaluation forms here in
front of me...Part A. is titled the veterinary score sheet...there are five
categories...each scored 1-10 with 10 being the best...the categories are -
recovery, hydration factors, lesions producing pain and discomfort, soundness
and quality of movement...again..each one is given a score 1 thru 10...those
scores are added together and multiplied by ten. In other words...a perfect
score would be 500. Then there is Part B. This is titled Time Factor...with
maximum 200 points which is awarded to the fastest rider. Soooo...here is
where the math starts getting really serious :>) you take the riding time
of THIS rider(calculated in minutes excluding hold times) Minus the riding
time of the winner...you then take the difference and subtract it from the
maximum 200. In other words...if I finished the ride in 365 minutes...and
the winner finished in 327 minutes...the difference is 38 minutes...200
minus 38= 162 which is your total time score...THEN---Part C is titled
WEIGHT FACTOR...a maximum of 100 point goes to the heaviest rider...and you
do basically the same math as in part B...take the weight of the heaviest
rider..say 220lbs...minus my weight SAY 150..which is 70...divide 70 by 2
=35...and subtract 35 from the maximum 100 ...which equals your total weight
score of 65.....THEN you add A + B + C = Total score.
Phew! So Time and Weight do factor in...but the vet score sheet is
ultimately worth allot more points...I can't imagine having to complete one
of these sheets for every single rider...
