Re: RC: Re: ridecamp-d Digest V00 #42
As for 'accidental' poisoning - I think I may be guilty of that one, and
it was because of being careless with a Quest wormer tube. I put my
horses on the three month worming schedule and the second time I wormed,
a couple of days later, I found my 3 year old black lab curled up under
a tree near the porch, dead. Not a clue as to what he died of at the
time, he just died in his sleep. The vet suggested it might have been
heart failure - he said its not uncommon with large chested dogs. I was
crushed.
Then six months later I attended a FT. DODGE seminar on parasites, and
they were promoting Quest, and the representative heavily stressed its
toxicity to small animals. I immediately stopped using it. I can't say
for sure that's what happened, but I know I had always tossed the wormer
tubes into our trash can prior to that, and now I thoroughly wash them
out before disposing of them in a sealed container!
