Re: related shoeing question
I'm trying the EasyBoot alternative for my horse with low heels & not so
great hoof walls. However, his feet are getting chipped up (esp. in the
quarters) in turnout and the vet thinks I should shoe him. Problem is, he
holds a shoe for 4 weeks. It's a vicious cycle - his feet looked SO bad in
Oct.
Has anyone tried barefooted-ness for low heeled horses?? We used wedges all
last year, and didn't see improvement. I don't want to make things worse.
My feeling is WORST case, next season I can use glue-ons and then go back to
steel shoes when the chips grow out. BEST case, his feet might actually
improve and I can leave him barefooted. Is this sensible?
