Neoprene Allergy
Was the offending neoprene the grey, pebbley looking stuff or regular
neoprene? The grey funny looking kind was developed at NASA to line the
necks of space suits, and is hypoallergenic. OrthoFlex is using some of it
now, my luck has been good using it for horses who seemed allergic to
neoprene before. It can be purchased from the manufacturer (Rubatex, Inc.)
but one usually has to buy a whole roll, enough to line girths and all
other tack for years and years, horses and horses......
Marge
<<My husband uses a neoprene girth a lot, but I do have one horse that
appears
to be allergic to it. No matter how clean or how careful, he will break
out
in welts along the girth with the neoprene, even though he is just fine
with
his woolback and others. Just something to keep in the back of one's
mind--an allergy can occur to just about any substance...>>
