Eating on the trail
The post by Rachael which mentioned that her horse, Sabre has picked
up a new trick - eating trees while trotting - make my brain click
back into place and a question resurface that I've been meaning to
ask.
Zane LOVES sycamore trees. Where I train, the little buggers grow
everywhere. We are now having a problem with him wanting to strip the
leaves off of the branches as we go by. The problem is that he's not
coordinated enough to do it, so he reaches, grabs, and about the time
his neck is going to snap from being bent back, he stops.
Do I let him keep trying until he gets good enough to eat on the move?
Or do I not let him do this? I hear so much about gut sounds, and
eating on the rides that I'm not really sure which would be better.
