My experience with multi-days is geographical, but we've always had a 1-hour
hold each day. Unlike many one-day rides, this may be the ONLY hold in many
cases. Of course, having all night to refuel between segments is a factor,
too.
Although I am a proponent of 45-minute holds instead of hour holds, I rarely
run or vet a 100-miler with less than 3 such holds, as well as some shorter
ones.
