I have to "ditto" what Frank said about knowing your horse and what sort of
control you have. Just as you shouldn't drive a car beyond its braking
ability, you should also never ride your horse beyond its braking ability.
That goes right back to the issue of "training" your horse vs. just
"conditioning" your horse for endurance, and really is no different than the
recent thread about horses being under control at vet checks...
