Fat metabolism/Recoveries; micro chips
With regard to the discussion of feeding high fat diet and recoveries, I
believe that Susan G. discussed this about a year or so ago. Although I am
not capable of
summarizing the discussion, I did come away with the thought that increased
fat lead to increased recovery times. I know Susan is in vet school, perhaps
Tom Ivers can jump in here......I believe Tom was involved in the
discussion/debate.
Down here in the tropics everyone trains either early am or in the evening
.The first ride of the season is mid Oct.and it will still be hot then. It
will be interesting to see what happens.
Regarding micro chips: I am the chairman of our local disaster plan, so I
have done some work with the EOC ( emergency operations center) At a recent
meeting with the Director of Animal Control and the head vet of the emergency
response team of Palm Beach County, the discussion of micro- chipping came
about....it is highly recommended . The Palm Beach County team recommends the
"Home Again " chip.
Although all chips are good, the Home Again chip is the only true universal
chip that can be read with any scanner. Our local riding club, JHA, will be
having a micro chip day and we will be only using the Home Again Chip.
