I saw a mare fail her pre-ride check due to an extreamly high
heart rate.  Seems she was in heat, and there was this very good
looking stallion (minding his own business) in line. She was not
interested in being presented to the vet.  She wanted that 
stallion.  The vet asked the owner to bring her back the next
morning for a re-check - without the stallion around.
