Sponging

Just caught your post on Ride Camp.  Please note p. 11 of Ride Manager's
Manual.  NOTE;  ON COMPETITIVE RIDES, WATER FOR SPONGING CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE
EQUALLY TO EVERYONE.  There are often tanks put out at vet checks for this
purpose, for use if the weather is as bad as it sounds like it's going to be.
(At the Wildcat Ride they allow sponging if the temp. is above a certain
level).  Usually they ask riders  to dip out if the tanks are mainly there for
drinking.  On dry trails there are often tanks put out along the way--it's up
to management whether they allow sponging out of them or not. Don't know where
GLDRA stands on this, but UMECRA's rule is not quite as inhumane as it may
sound.  Louise
