Well, Sue, not riding a 'nominated' horse as you are, I can only
relate my experiences from other competitions. When being awarded a "breed"
award at dog obedience competitions for that breed award we were competing
against only dogs of the same breed. When showing my little Arab in open
shows years ago the Arab points were accumulated only from classes offered
for Arabs.

IAHA is an Arab organization, honoring Arabs and half-Arabs so
personally I don't see the big deal about only getting points for placing
over other Arabs (and not all the other breeds), to me it's logical -- it's
Arabs and half-Arabs competing against other Arabs and half-Arabs. Makes
sense to me and I don't think IAHA is saying other breeds are second class
at all.
