This creates a real mess for aerc.....If the ride wasnt conducted according
to the rules, what is to be done, if anything, about the mileage credit etc
for those who completed the ride? After the montana thing it was
decided that it wouldnt be fair to those who compelted to not allow them
the mileage and award program credit....Anyone who finished that ride
certainly earned the buckle so to speak, but if this sort of thing happens
consistently, then the awards/mileage program starts to lose the level
playing field that is provided by the aerc rules.
This is one of those issues that isnt ever simple, and often leaves someone
frustrated at some level or another no matter what action is taken. Thank
goodness there are board members who have the perseverance to stick with
it year after year and deal with these things, knowing that someone is
going to be upset no matter what decision is made.
