<< I
can't help but feel that after a while the comment "so you rode only half a
ride (50 miles)?" will become "how much money did you win?" It is bad
enough
we have people who can't see much value in "half a ride" much less people
who
will feel that if you're not a "professional (i.e.: running for money" that
you're not really an endurance rider at all.

Teddy,
This is what I fear also - money sems to speak louder than common sense or
just plain pride and honour anymore. We will not ride in anything like that.
I think it is a joke to hear all of the caving in to this, as if it is
inevitable. With attitudes liek that, it may well be! I would like to still
think that $$ isn't everything to the riders int his sport. PLEASE people,
don't prove me wrong on this! And after all the bragging I have done to my
show horse friends about how much more HORSE and PEOPLE oriented this sport
it. Let's not get into to it now for money. Of course, the ONE good thing is
that maybe some of these sho wtrainers that look like the devil in the saddle
will have to learn how to really ride! HA HA!
