Re: [RC] FEI: getting started - Truman Prevatt

You could start by looking on the AERC web site or the USEF site (www.usef.org). At the international level it is a race. To get a COC (certificate of competency) you do have to do a 100 at a min speed, I believe it is 12.5 km/hr. There are some other criteria that can replace that like a ride time of no more than 140% of the winning ride time on a 100 mile FEI ride.

So if you are solid, consistent and fast over 100 miles - you might want to check it out. It also has a lot of associated cost, horse passport, USEF membership, high performance fee, etc.

I was just wondering. How exactly do you get started in FEI. I realize this is kind of an "involved" question. Is there an article in Endurance News somebody could refer me to? Do you have to be a pretty fast horse/rider team or just solid and consistent. Funny that I'm asking this after all the "FEI is a pain" posts. Well, I am an endurance rider so I must enjoy pain.
