Re: [RC] To tie or not to tie - Terry

I have a two horse straight load trailer with a removable divider that can also swing over to make a bigger slant stall. I have trailered in almost all configurations and have decided my horses are most comfortable with the divider in place. One horse is even more relaxed when he is tied, the other likes to have his head free. On long trips I tend to change things up. I tie for a while. Untie and open as many doors as is safe when I stop. Move the divider over for a while and then move it back ( I do have a rope that serves as a butt rope for the whole width of the trailer for safety when I change things around so I don't get squished by a ramp.) I guess the bottom line is to try things out at home and see what your horse likes to do and what works best for your safety and convenience. But since that being said I still fing that just putting them into the trailer the way it was built, snapping their heads in place and driving sensibly is as good as anything for most horses. Terry
