[RC] Kansas in 1996 - Michael Maul

In response to:"I remember at the FOF one year when he and Patti Pizzo (on her wonder
horse Savaq) were in a head to head race for first. About 1/8 of a mile
out the marble falls into the TB hole in Hawk's brain and he kicks in
the after burner and it resembled more of the stretch run at the KY
derby than at 100 miles on an endurance ride. Hawk and Steve flew pass
the finish line and on down the road. It took about 1/2 mile for Steve
to bring him in. If I remember Hawk top 10ed, maybe top 5 at the worlds
in '96."

Well at the 1996 WEC mentioned above - Savaq prevailed... Savaq was 4th right in front of Rio. Hawk was 7th and 20 minutes behind Savaq ridden by a Brazilian rider. Patti might have done better but Savaq didn't make the US team.
