Re: [RC] more towing questions - Karen Sullivan----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrea Faustina" <afaustin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> I am towing a four horse steel bumperpull and also carry a cabover camper. For this configuration I use a Titan Class V hitch with a receiver extender. I have the pin in the second hole on the extender bar (sorry can't remember the exact length that the bar extends, maybe 24"?). I tow all this with a Ford F-550. I believe I am well within my towing capacity for that vehicle (17,500 lbs) but I am concerned about the limits on weight for the extender bar. I think it said something about 6,000 lbs when extended to the second hole position. Any suggestions on making this a safer combination? Would stabilizer bars make the extension safer?? Are there any higher weight rated extender bars? Sorry not to clip more of post but all info relevant....I had Dodge one ton....and also had that same hitch with extension bar....also I believe on 24"length....I was towing a 5 horse aluminum trailer that I guessed might be approaching 10,000 lbs. when loaded with 5 horses, and hay for a week and water..etc... I got a Husky weight distribution hitch with added bars, which made me able to safely tow $10,000. Would not have felt safe without it....and it was very easy to hitch and unhitch. Now that I have a gooseneck, it is for sale if you are interested....
