[RC] [RC] kinda sort stupid question about lateral flexion/one rein stop - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Amy W. awoodward@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I have to chime in on this one, having a first hand experience a few weeks ago with the one rein ?emergency brakes? stop. We were riding and going along at a good pace when my bit (rubber happy mouth) broke in two ? I eased my way up to his (a soon to be 5 yr. old) halter, grabbed it and pulled him around just as I would have with the one rein stop. I ?normally? have a level headed horse and he proved it even more that day, and no I didn?t have a spare bit ? we rode back a good couple of miles with just a halter and reins hooked to the sides. Even though your horse my have ?regular brakes? it?s always nice to have a back-up in this type of situation. The lateral flexion is also very good to use when your horse may be nervous, scared etc., if you will do this exercise regularly, you can use it when they tense up as well. Thanks to Cowboy Ed for training my horse??and the one rein stopJ Amy and Kash =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
